During the last few months many people in Union County didn’t get their food stamps due to problems in the new state-wide computer system. This has put a tremendous load on our local Loaves and Fishes of Union County’s resources. The additional referrals DSS needs to refer to Loaves and Fishes of Union County has caused their weekly grocery bills to triple for several weeks. Union County DSS is working hard to fix the problems and to help Loaves and Fishes of Union County through this challenging period.

If you would like to help Loaves and Fishes of Union County at this troubled time you can  mail a check to their P.O. Box 790, Monroe NC 28111-0790 or go to their website to make a donation or drop off a check or some groceries to one of their pantries;. The one in St. Paul’s Episcopal church at the corner of Windsor and Church streets is open 10:00 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday and the other pantry and office is at the back entrance of the Historic Belk building in downtown Monroe and is open on Friday and Saturday 10.00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
