Food Donations to Our Pantry
Nearly 80% percent of the food we distribute in a year has been donated directly to our pantries. We rely on the community to supply nutritious groceries for our families in crisis.
Organizing a food drive at your work, club or congregation is a great way to give back to the community and to raise awareness of area food needs.
Several large food drives are conducted each year, ie. the Letter Carrier’s Food Drive in May and many Thanksgiving Food Drives at area schools and at Scott Health & Safety. These drives provide the bulk of our food, but our needs continue to grow as the number of families in crisis grows and prices keep rising.
View Grocery List for recommendations of easy to handle items for food drive donations.
You may also get a complete PackingSheet of what we distribute by family size.
We prefer to buy baby food and refrigerated items ourselves to assure immediate delivery.
When we have high priority needs, we list them in ALERTS on our home page.
As much as we appreciate the thought, we cannot accept donations of any home cooked food, home made jams, jellies, pickles or any home canned or jarred foods. We also cannot use outdated “consume by” dates, dented or opened packages and no glass items. Please refer to Q&A for explanation of “expiration” dates.
Double your financial donation by participating in your company’s matching gift program.
Some companies are now making a financial contribution for volunteer hours served.
